Lesson 6: Calculate at full precision, round at the right step
Excel stores many decimal fractions as binary approximations. Keep precision through intermediate calculations when possible, then round for display or when a business rule requires rounding each transaction.
With A2 = -2.35, =ROUND(A2,1) returns -2.4; =ROUNDDOWN(A2,1) returns -2.3; =INT(A2) returns -3.

Round a unit price to cents: =ROUND(A2*B2,2)
Choose the intended rounding rule
Cell number formatting changes what is displayed, not the stored value. ROUND changes the formula result. For tax, cash, or invoice rules, confirm whether rounding occurs per line or only on the final total; those policies can produce different totals.
